Week One

1st current event: Women changing their body Because of the Media
Plastic surgery is on the rise because women see ads on television and magazines then look at them selves and think that they need to look like the people in the media. celebrities are getting ridiculed when they gain an extra 10 pounds because they weren't like that before. Media is affecting teenagers as well, they develop eating disorders which can lead to major health problems. My audience is young women.

2nd current event: discrimination in the work place. People get hired for what they look like weather the hirer wants to admit it or not. Women get hired for simpler tasks vs when men get hired for heavy lifting type jobs. At my job if you don't fit the type of look they are looking for you won't get the good jobs. It is hard if not impossible for men to get a job at Hooters. When someone gets fired due to discrimination the employer will find a way around it so that it is not really discrimination so they can not get sued. My audience is potential employees and employers.

3rd current event: Teen pregnancy:Should sex ed be taught in school? There is a rise in teen pregnancy in the U.S. Girls are getting pregant at such a young age right now. There are kids in middle school who have gotten pregnant. Not too long ago there was even a group of girls who were freshman in high school who mad a pact to all get pregnant at the same time. Schools are not doing their best to try and help the situation. Some schools aren't even giving sexual education. Kids need to know what actions they can take if they do decide to have sex. My audience is school children and schols
