Week 2

A) I think i am going to lean more to the sex ed debate on weather sex ed should be in schools or not. I am connected to it because I was a young mom. My research question would be are there any negative effects to taking sex education in school? Maybe a more narrow question would be are there any known negative effects that actually physically hurt a child? Are there any proven cases where children took the class then later became teen mom's themselves? Is Sex education in schools good? What kinds of schools really try to educate children on this topic?

B) The podcast is about good ways to be a great communicator. She talks about great communicators in time such as Aristotle. Logos is an appeal of logic. ethos persuasive appeal of character, credibility. Pathos appeal based on emotion. You need all three to be a great public speaker. She also talks about meetings and what the audience is thinking about. She talks about good ways to talk to an audience so that they are really listening. A good way to practice a speech is to be prepared.

prompt B) This is an emotional argument using only pictures and a few words. I think the image is very strong and makes a claim by itself. It is very strongly persuading you to not drink and drive because this could happen to you. The pictures generate sadness and sympathy, she wants you to feel her pain and reconsider the choices you make. The emotion of sadness and hurt makes me feel like I should never drink and drive because you can really hurt people that they may not die but they cold live and their lives would be much harder than if they just would have die, it would give you tons of guilt.

  1. Nice job with blog post number two. While you could have gone a bit more in depth, I think that you answered the questions.
